Chakra Series: Root

Chakras are energy centers that exist in and around our physical bodies. Each chakra has a unique location and is associated with a different gland, psychological function, element, energy state, and more.

Here's a bit more on the Root Chakra:

The root chakra is your sense of grounding. The element is EARTH. Think of it like the roots of a tree. Your feet, ankles, legs, and base of your spine all connect you with the earth and become your foundation. Roots steady us, help us feel safe, secure, and sturdy. Without balance here, the rest of your energy will be difficult to direct.

Have you ever felt "ungrounded?" Anxious feelings and too much time thinking or worrying can cause a disconnect from the root chakra.

Here are a few ways to help balance your Root chakra:

  • Eat root vegetables or meats/protein

  • Move your body - especially focus on moving and strengthening your feet and legs

  • Walk barefoot on the Earth (Personally looking forward to spring for this reason!)

  • Make changes in your life to feel more safety and security

  • Take slow deep breaths - imagine you can breathe from the bottoms of your feet up to the base of your spine. Inhale up, exhale down. Repeat until you notice a shift in your body.

  • Rest
